Core Values
Family |
Luke 2: 51-52 / Genesis 18:17-19 |
The Family is designed by God as the basic care unit of instilling a sense of belonging, worth and value within the human spirit. It is in the context of family that growth occurs on four levels to bring each to a place of maturity:
Worship |
Romans 12:1 |
In addition to the songs we sing in our weekly celebrations, worship is to be a lifestyle in which our whole being is presented to God within the context of each day. As a local church we are committed to intimate worship of God in our gatherings and the development of a "worshippers heart" within every individual so that all of life is seen as an opportunity to celebrate the majesty of God and to express love, adoration and praise to Him.
Passion |
Matthew 22:37 |
The human heart was created for the passionate pursuit of God and is most fulfilled when it is totally given to that pursuit. As a local church, we are committed to nurturing a life of total commitment to God in every believer. Our goal is to love Him with all our hearts (a deep heart committment), all our soul (our feelings and warmth and affection), all our mind (our intellecual capacities) and all our strength (our energies and life vanity)
Fellowship |
Acts 2:42-47 |
Man is relational in his basic nature. The picture of the first church in the book of Acts was that gathering together became part of the natural expression of their faith in Christ. As a local church, we are committed to developing close, maningful relationships in which we can share our life in Christ, our time, talents and possessions with one another.
Mercy |
James 2:13 / Luke 10:25-37 / Matthew 5:7, 9:10-13 / Micah 6:8 |
Scripture declares that mercy triumphs over judgement. Jesus' earthly ministry was marked by merciful compassion toward all who were broken, case down, sick, neglected or rejected, abandoned or abused. As a local church we are committed to be a people who triumph over a judgemental spirit by being true neighbors to all, displaying the merciful spirit of the Good Samaritan.
Service |
John 13:1-17 / Galatians 5:13 |
In washing his disciples feet, Jesus left them a vivid example of how they were to relate to one another. As a local church we are committed to following Jesus' example by learning how to serve one another in love.
Obedience |
John 14:15-23 |
Jesus taught that obedience to His teaching was key to intimacy with God the Father, Jesus the Son and with the Holy Spirit. Therefore, as a local church we are committed to the nurturing of heart obedience to the Word of God in every believer. We desire to be a people whose hearts resonate with a constant, "Yes Lord!"
Discipleship |
John 8:31, 13:35, 15:8 |
A disciple is a "learner" or "follower." Jesus said that obedience, love and fruitfulness would mark or identify His disciples. As a local church we are committed to relationships with one another that result in the making of disciples of Jesus. We want to be men and women, youth and children who are obedient to the Word of God, expressing love to one another and increasingly bearing fruit in every good work.
Mission |
Matthew 28:19-20 |
Jesus intended His Church to be proactive when he commissioned them to "go" to the nations. The Greek word used here for "nations" is ethnos and actually means distinct ethnic people group or race. As a local church, we are committed to the mission of going out to make disciples among all people groups.
