The Traverse City
House Of Prayer

Jesus said that his Father’s house should be called a house of prayer - Mark 11:17.  When he spoke this, Jesus was quoting from Isaiah 56:7 where God states that His desire is to give joy to those who are functioning in his house of prayer.  A House of Prayer refers to an expression of the corporate church of a given area coming together and giving itself to worship and intercession under the anointing and guidance of the Holy Spirit.  In the House of Prayer, the mixing and mingling of spoken and sung prayers and intercessions with musical worship and praise creates an atmosphere where one can pray for long periods of time and feel the refreshing of the Lord upon one’s soul and heart.  The term Harp & Bowl is sometimes used to designate such an approach to prayer.  This term has its origin in Revelation 5:8 where golden "bowls" are depicted as being filled with the prayers of the saints and “harps” are mentioned as a symbol of musical worship before the throne of God.  In Revelation 8:3-4 the prayers of the saints are mingled with the incense of worship and offered up to God before His throne.  The harp & bowl model uses a team composed of a worship leader, a prayer leader, and prophetic singers and musicians to lead in prayer and worship.

The Traverse City House of Prayer has an open setting allowing people to come and go as their schedules permit.  One may stay for a few minutes or “soak” for a few hours.  Please pray that the Lord will “build” His house of prayer here in the Traverse City area.  Our goal in the House of Prayer is to engage in worship and prayer during our time together, thus avoiding a "concert" posture.  This is best accomplished by participating by engaging in worship with the team, singing the songs and spontaneous choruses; turning to the scriptures that are announced and meditating on them; being in a spirit of agreement as prayers are prayed, engaging ones own heart in private prayer and/or coming to the microphone to pray when opportunity is given.
